KIQ Management Changes?

INTELLIQUEST - (More News From Another Tip To "The Hotline") Things may still turn around for 1010 KIQ. After all the staff left over a month ago because they weren't being paid, Richard Linford agreed to an LMA of "KIQ" for an undisclosed amount of money. Comment: The question now remains. . .will employees get paid yet?

See Them Too

CLEAR CHANNEL - (More News From Another Tip To "The Hotline") Apparently, KZHT's (FM-94.9) "Z-Morning Zoo" will begin broadcasting not only by radio, but by TV as well. They're also bragging, "If you weren't appaled by what you heard, you ain't seen nothing yet." Utah's "WB 30" will broadcast the "zoo" as part of the "WB AM" show. Monday morning will be it's debut, using a fiber optic technology.

New Morning Shows For 2002

New morning teams have joined stations from Citadel, Clear Channel, and Simmons. Tim, Willie, Chet, Brad, Todd and Erin are all getting fresh starts this month in Salt Lake. "K102" (KKAT) dished up a voicetracked show. "Tim and Willie" join us from Pheonix, as we reported earlier. "Chet and 'Cuzzin' Brad" join us from "KJQ" (KJQN), as a new live show (see below). The latest addition to the airwaves is "Todd and Erin" formerly of KISN, joining us from "The Bee" (KBEE), after a massive advertising campaign. How long will these shows hold up?

Staff Changes At FM 100

SIMMONS - Utah's Arbitron rated number one station a new air talent. Lance Ballance, from KBIG 104.3 in Los Angeles. This is the most significant change in talent at KSFI since Ceci Williams was let go from the night shift. Who does Ballance replace? Lyle Morris, who has worked at FM 100 since 1988 and broadcaster along the Wasatch Front with FM 100 and other stations for 23 years collectively. The general manager's only comment was that Balance was Lyle Morris' permanent replacement since Morris, "[left] to seek other interests." Was Morris canned? Unlikely, since he's worked at the station for so long and FM 100 won't let there staff go just at a whim like other corporate competitors.

106.1 A New Utah Station?

MARATHON - From the south end of the valley, 106.1 came in for the first time from the Utah Radio Guide Herriman "Listening Post." The station did not identify itself at the top of the hour, but is likely to be KOTB 106.1 of Evanston that has been rumored for a signal increase since last summer. Now to add a twist. The signal was that it was a near simulcast of a Jazz game against the Blazers on Citadel Radio's 1320 KFAN.

Another Carbon-Copy Morning Show

CLEAR CHANNEL - K102's new morning show, "Tim and Willie" is a syndicated national show out of Arizona. Yes, people voicetracking has begun at the station, the second of two signs that Clear Channel is desperate with KKAT (K102). Personally, I believe that KKAT won't live to see next Christmas.
